Job description
BACKGROUND

Glendale’s core market is in Grounds Management. In recent years however the Company has successfully diversified its range of green activities to include: golf, horticulture, green waste recycling and Glendale Countryside which encompasses arboriculture, countryside and woodland management, landscaping and other tree services.
GLENDALE COUNTRYSIDE
Glendale Countryside provides a specialist arboriculture, landscaping and estate / countryside / woodland management services - offering a national service to public and private sector clients, including Local Authorities, Ministry of Defence and Blue-Chip Companies. The company operates nationally under the trading names of Glendale Scotland, Civic Trees - the national tree moving business, and a number of local authority arboriculture term-contracts branded as Glendale Countryside.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Based at our Weston office, covering Somerset and the surrounding area you will be responsible for the day to day implementation of all countryside work undertaken from the office, which includes a wide range of work and activities from tree planting, fencing, scrub control, herbicide application, grass cutting, habitat management, woodland work, and ongoing contracts for a variety of clients.
General Works:
Be aware of the operational requirements of the contract and particularly the daily performance against outputs and the works programme.
To undertake other duties as may be reasonably required.
Actively assist the company through highlighting areas of business development.
Job Specific:
To undertake Countryside estate work for a variety of clients. Most work will include brush cutting / chainsaw work / grass cutting / spraying / tree planting / invasive weed control / countryside furniture erection.
Undertake horticultural operations, e.g. planting, pruning and seeding: grounds maintenance.
Operate equipment such as pedestrian mowing equipment, strimmers, hedge cutters, chainsaws and associated tools and Supervise staff.
Drive company vehicles/tow trailers as required.
To undertake the maintenance of all vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with its handbook and to enforce the security for all equipment used on site and in the depot.
The correct completion and collation of all machinery checks/maintenance sheets / Havs sheets from your team and the correct use of defect tags.
To ensure all vehicle plant and equipment is suitable for the task and is safe to use.
Health, Safety & Security:
Complying with the companies Health and Safety Procedures.
Assist in maintenance and enforcement of the security of vehicles, plant and equipment.
Assist in maintaining all vehicles and work equipment in a safe working condition in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Welfare Policy, Operational Systems Manual and all associated procedures.
Regularly monitor and record the condition of all vehicles and work equipment and advise of any damage, wear or neglect.
Quality Management and Customer Care:
Work to the company’s quality and customer care ethics (right first time)
Assist in the development of a good working relationship with our client
Environmental
In accordance with our ISO14001 Accreditation.
Work in a way that minimises our impact upon the environment. This will include the efficient and safe use of fuels and oils, the correct handling and disposal of waste materials and the correct handling of pesticides (PA1 and PA6 only).
To ensure that any spillages of fuel or chemicals are dealt with quickly and effectively and in accordance with the regulations.
