Graduate/Junior Web Developer
Location: Head Office, The Stables, Chorley, PR7 4AT

At Glendale we are developing state-of-the-art technology leveraging the use of Google Cloud Platform. Combining, optimising and integrating various Google Cloud services such as Google App Engine, Google Cloud SQL, Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage we have developed multiple solutions to assist all aspects of our business.

We are looking for a Graduate / Junior developer to join our team based in our Head Office in Chorley, with the opportunity for hybrid / remote working.

This position is a varied role supporting the business in continuously improving efficiency, productivity and safety through the implementation and optimisation of in-house software solutions. We're looking for a graduate or someone who has some programming experience and is ready to advance on their career path.

Who are you?

Essential skills and experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proficiency in JavaScript and experience with React 6 for front-end development.

  • Familiarity with Python 3 for backend development.

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and how to integrate front-end applications with backend services.

  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Google App Engine.

  • Basic knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).

  • Awareness of software development best practices, such as code reviews, testing, and debugging.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn new technologies.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Exposure to TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

  • Experience with State Management Libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil).

  • Familiarity with Backend Frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

  • Understanding of Databases (SQL & NoSQL) and experience with Google Firestore or Cloud Datastore.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly in a Google Cloud environment.

  • Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker.

  • Exposure to authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, Firebase Authentication).

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
