The Opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role holder will be responsible for analysing and price modelling local government and commercial grounds maintenance bids. You will prepare bid clarification questions, identify salient points including areas of risk, and analyse contract terms and conditions; presenting findings to the senior management team. You will build strong relationships with other functions of the business, including Sales, Commercial, Systems and Operations to review resource productivity, machinery and vehicle output levels, and will design financially sound operational solutions to complex bids. There is also a requirement to keep abreast of current pricing by analysing won and lost opportunities, establishing and updating rate books and interpreting data from the management information system (MIS).
The Person
- Sound commercial judgement and financial literacy with high level of MS Excel and Office capability (Google suite experience preferable)
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Thorough and methodical approach, with high attention to detail
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure, work to deadlines and self-manage effectively
- Requirement to travel to the Chorley office (Hybrid role with some remote working)
This position would ideally suit a STEM Graduate and / or someone who has achieved qualifications in Accounting and Finance with practical experience within a business analysis/MI, commercial sales or finance department, although training will be provided for the right candidate. The role holder must be able to interpret written specifications to develop pricing quotations and models, be proficient at developing pricing proposals for new and repeat work and have a track record of success working within a team to articulate your decisions and gain appropriate pricing sign off.
